objects + spaces is a custom design/build firm operating in Toronto and southern Ontario.

Marc van Ginkel, principal, has been working in the field of architecture, construction and fine cabinetry for over twenty years. After graduating from the University of Toronto in 1988 with a bachelor of architecture, Marc worked at the firm of Strasman Architects Inc. for several years before moving on to develop his own projects with residential and commercial clients.

objects + spaces currently offers a diverse array of services ranging from design and detailing to construction, renovation, cabinetry and custom furniture fabrication.

The concept is simple. The services offered are custom tailored to the client in the same way our built product is. With the integration of the design/build, clients are assured that the design reflects the realities of the building process, and the building process will in turn inform the design ...complete conceptual integration.

The design process is intensive. The primary task is to fully understand the needs and desires of the client and subsequently develop a programme which accurately reflects the clients requirements. The style of objects + spaces is distinctive, but in the end, the product reflects the client and not only the designer.

One of the core values of objects + spaces is rooted in the act of collaboration. Whether it be with the client, other designers, architects, contractors, fabricators or suppliers, our goal is to achieve the best product for the client. The capabilities of design/build will not limit us from engaging in only one or the other.

In the past several years, object + spaces has worked on projects as varied as furniture fabrication for the Ontario Government and other commercial clients as well as a photo studio renovation.Our residential work has included design of millwork for a $1.5 million renovations as well as numerous kitchen fabrications and renovation along with their associated renovations and re purpose of space.
